Mitchel Field T-shirt
Mitchel Field T-shirt
Mitchel Field Air Force Base also known as Mitchel Field, was a United States Air Force Base located on the Hempstead Plains of Long Island, New York. Established in 1918 as Hazelhurst Aviation Field #2, the facility was renamed later that year as Mitchel Field in honor of former New York City Mayor, John Purroy Mitchel, who was killed in a training accident. Decommissioned in 1961, Mitchel Field became a multi-use complex that is home to the Cradle of Aviation Museum today!
This commemorative T-shirt was designed by Air Force Veteran, Darren Moore, owner of Bunker 27 Apparel, who researched and brought to life the history of this iconic Long Island Air Base. This beautiful T-shirt highlights the significance of Mitchel Field, and its role in both aviation and Long Island history!
